Session Outline
The Scottish Government Target 2030 Action Plan seeks to build a movement for people, planet and prosperity. It was launched in 2023 and aims to strengthen action and commitments around Learning for Sustainability in 3-18 education. The action plan was developed in response to repeated calls from children and young people across Scotland for Learning for Sustainability, climate education and outdoor learning to be a greater feature of their learning. The new action plan sets out the ambition for all 3-18 schools and settings to be sustainable by 2030 and for all learners to receive their entitlement to Learning for Sustainability.
This session will outline the key strategies and policies that have been put in place to help embed Learning for Sustainability in Scotland's schools and early learning and childcare settings. It will showcase some of the good practice from across Scotland and draw out lessons for FE/HE. Importantly, it will identify opportunities for cross-sector collaboration to maximise the opportunities presented by Scotland's new curriculum for schools - launching in 2027.
